It’s raining ducks at Namaste Farm! We’ve decided to embrace the water theme of the last few
soggy months with our own wetland fowl. As you know, until now we’ve been building our flock of
chickens for both eggs and meat. Now we’re going to do the same with ducks. Take a peek at our new
ducklings on the day of arrival.
Everyone who watches cooking shows on TV has seen how popular adding duck to the menu can be. Have you
tried it yourself? We love the Great British Baking Show and can’t wait for some duck eggs to add to our
home baking adventures. Our customers have been asking about ducks ever since our poultry business began,
so most of these ducks are already reserved.
We’ve decided to start with two types of ducks, Peking and Gold hybrids. All breeds aren’t the same. The Peking
ducks will be our meat birds, about 6 to 7 pounds finished weight in 8 weeks. The Gold hybrids will be our layers.
Setting up their habitat so we can collect eggs may be a challenge, since we believe all our ducks should live a natural
life on our farm pond. We won’t have duck eggs for sale until next year. Until then, keep watching to see the new
Namaste Farm Swim Team grow up this summer.
